Referral Bonuses:

We encourage teachers to refer their colleagues by offering referral bonuses. Therefore, teachers who apply for our supply roles can take advantage of a fully portable ‘Enhanced DBS.’ This means that if you already possess an Enhanced DBS, it can be transferred to your new position in Tower Hamlets, saving you time and effort. This streamlined process ensures a smooth transition into your new teaching role.

Key Stage One and Key Stage Two Teaching Positions:

Within Tower Hamlets, supply teaching jobs are available for both Key Stage One (KS1) and Key Stage Two (KS2) positions. Key Stage One covers students aged 5-7, while Key Stage Two covers students aged 7-11. This means that teachers we place have the opportunity to teach and make a positive impact on children at various stages of their development. Our schools offer a rich and diverse teaching experience across different age groups, allowing educators to nurture young minds and contribute to their growth.

We have a number of roles for teachers and learning support assistants across Tower Hamlets.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers and Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants (SENTA) help children and young people who require extra support with their learning in a primary school classroom setting.

SEN Teachers & SEN Teaching Assistants will be responsible for students with:

  • Visual or hearing impairment
  • Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH)
  • Learning difficulties

Overseas Qualified Teacher Status

In most English schools, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a legal requirement, and it’s a prerequisite for working as a teacher.

We welcome qualified teachers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. Qualified teachers from these countries are able to apply for qualified teacher status (QTS) without having to undertake further training in England.

There is four year rule that applies to teachers who qualify in countries outside of the EEA and Switzerland. This excludes teachers who qualified in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA.

Overseas trained teachers (OTT’s) are allowed to teach in state maintained schools and non-maintained special schools in England as unqualified teachers for four calendar years.

They are not permitted to teach in pupil referral units (PRUs) until they have been awarded qualified teacher status.

OTT’s can find out more by contacting teacher enquiries on 0370 496 8324 or email teacher.enquiries@education.gsi.gov.uk.
